When is Ekoddishta Shraddha performed?
Ekoddishta, or eka-uddishta, means 'aimed at one' - the shraddha dedicated to a single departed person. In tradition it is offered in the period after a death and on the death anniversary, helping the soul on its passage from the preta state toward joining the ancestors (pitru).
Sankalp and offerings for one departed person
Unlike a general shraddha, Ekoddishta focuses the offerings and sankalp on one named departed person and their relation to the family.
Religious purpose of Ekoddishta Shraddha
It is connected with the soul's journey after death; the rite seeks gati and peace for that individual departed person.
Confirming the vidhi with your pandit
The Gayawal Pandaji confirms the suitable vidhi and whether it should be coordinated with the wider Gaya Shradh. Vayu records the details and coordinates the practical arrangements.
