Akshay Vat

The imperishable banyan where the Pind Daan is fulfilled — the seat of completion, where the Gayawal Pandaji gives the 'Suphal' blessing after Falgu and Vishnupad.

The debt we owe our ancestors

This rite is one way a family repays the Pitru Rin — the debt owed to those who gave us everything. Tell us your family's intention and we'll plan every step together, gently, on a call.

The imperishable banyan

Akshay Vat means the 'undecaying' banyan — said to have survived even the great deluge. In the Gaya tradition it is the place of completion: after Falgu River tarpan and the offering at Vishnupad, the family reaches Akshay Vat where the Gayawal Pandaji blesses the karta with 'Suphal' — the declaration that the Shraddha has been accepted and the ancestors are at peace.

Blessed to be eternal

Legend holds that Mata Sita, while performing Pind Daan for King Dasharatha at Gaya, blessed the Akshay Vat to remain ever-living — a witness to every ancestral rite performed here.

The seat of completion

Akshay Vat is where Gaya Shraddha is traditionally concluded; the Pandaji's 'Suphal' marks the rite as fulfilled for the family's departed. The undecaying tree symbolises the unbroken bond between a family and its ancestors.

Planning the completion stop

Akshay Vat is reached close to the Vishnupad area and is usually the final stop of the day, taking around 30–60 minutes. The Pandaji confirms the order for the selected date; keep timing and elder support in mind so the completion is calm and unhurried.
