The rite the scriptures call supreme
Gaya Ji is revered as moksha-bhoomi, the land where Lord Vishnu placed his foot on the demon Gayasur. The Puranas hold Shraddha here as uniquely powerful — the Kurma Purana says Pind Daan at Gaya liberates seven generations on the father's side and seven on the mother's, while the Skanda Purana's Gaya Mahatmya promises peace to ancestors before and after the karta.
Seven generations, both sides
The Kurma Purana teaches that Gaya Shraddha grants gati to seven paternal and seven maternal generations — a reach unmatched by ordinary shraddha.
Tarpan and pind together
Gaya Shraddha weaves tarpan at Falgu, the pind offering at Vishnupad and completion at Akshay Vat into one sacred sequence, guided through each step by the Gayawal Pandaji.
A debt repaid
In dharma the pitru-rin — the debt to one's ancestors — is considered settled through Shraddha at Gaya. It is why families travel here from across the world, and why the sequence, timing and elder support are best planned before arrival.

Which places are usually part of Gaya Shraddha?
Falgu River, Vishnupad Temple and Akshay Vat are commonly part of the route. The final route depends on Pandaji advice and available time.
